Social Media and Communications Coordinator

We have an exciting volunteer position for PAWSitive Pantry.  This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to professionally develop within a variety of areas, including marketing, fundraising, operations, recruitment, project management, etc.  We are looking for a self-starter who is mission-driven. This is a volunteer, work-from-home position.  

PAWSitive Pantry is seeking a social-media strategist to grow our social-media presence across a variety of platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The Social Media and Communications Coordinator will be in charge of creating and maintaining messaging on social media sites, creating flyers, banners, etc. Experience managing social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram is essential.

The Social Media and Communications Coordinator will post, track and analyze the success of posts and tweets as well as overall engagement and growth and keep content fresh and trending.Ideally, the candidate will have the ability to synthesize information into articulate and compelling cases for social media, public events, and websites.    

Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating content for social media including flyers, graphics, short videos, etc.
  • Draft social media posts for review
  • Content writing (social captions, posts, photo, and video content).
  • Strong knowledge of transforming website information into visually pleasing, engaging, and intuitive user experience.
  • Develop digital assets (static, video, and HTML) for a range of platforms (social, display advertising, websites, mobile apps, etc.)
  • Test assets and optimize based on their performance and user feedback.
  • Develop and support email content planning and creation, list segmentation, and deployment
  • Collaborate with our team to build efficient processes that scale with our community efforts

Qualifications or willingness to learn:

Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree with 1 year of related experience or equivalent in training/ experience, including graphic design, marketing, communications, web design, or any related field.   One year or more of relevant experience in marketing/ administrative assistant/ social media management with community projects or non-profits

Proficiency in graphic design and layout software such as: Tools within the Adobe Create Cloud, .

Experience developing images and designs for websites.

Experience with MailChimp, WordPress, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
