Grant Writer

We have an exciting new volunteer position with PAWSitive Pantry.   We are looking for a volunteer to help with grant writing for our programs in Vermont and Massachusetts.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to professionally develop within a variety of areas, including marketing, fundraising, operations, recruitment, project management, etc.  We are looking for a self-starter who is mission-driven. This is a volunteer, work-from-home position.   

The grant writer will collaborate with PAWSitive Pantry members, animal shelters and other humane organizations to support each step of the grant proposal writing process This position requires strong writing and oral communication skills, critical thinking and analytic skills, and a high degree of competence and creativity. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills and the ability to perform both independently and as a team member.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with PAWSitive Pantry members and relevant grant stakeholders to prepare grant proposals, determining concept, gathering information, and writing grant proposals.
  • Maintains the Grant Research and Application Tracking Spreadsheet, entering new opportunities and tracking current grant applications through their various stages of completion. 
  • Coordinates application or necessary letters of interest deliverables with contributors 
  • Gather proposal information by identifying sources, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating any risks associated with proposals.
  • Provides proposal status updates at regular intervals, including monthly meetings of the entire task force and of the fundraising subcommittee

General Qualifications:

  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, media or related field or equivalent experience
  • Dynamic written and oral communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze, understand and execute complex instructions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
